Over the last two decades, the All-Ford Car Show and Swap Meet, held annually in Old Town Orcutt, has raised over $100,000 for Allan Hancock College industrial technology and other local and national scholarships. The event, which draws hundreds of classic car aficionados, is returning on Saturday, September 13th.
This year the show is celebrating 70 years of the Ford Thunderbird. “We expect to showcase several Thunderbird models that were first introduced in 1955,” explains organizer Jay McCord.
Colors will be presented at 9AM by the American Legion and Boy Scouts with singing of our national anthem by a local singer.
The swap meet, which brings people from all over California, offers old Ford car parts. The swap meet begins at 7AM with the car show running from 9AM to 3PM.
There will be first and second place trophies in 13 classes including Best of Show, Best Club Participation, Best Restored Model A, and Best Ford Thunderbird.
The annual event offers music, raffle prizes, 50/50 drawing, and craft vendors. Non-food vendors are welcome.
The car show is held at the Orcutt Union Plaza on South Broadway. Any car “born a Ford,” according to McCord, is welcome to enter. “We wish to thank our many sponsors who help provide scholarships.” Entry applications are available at santamariamodelaclub.com. Steve Southwick reporting
